Today we launch Sinergia — Latvia's first industrial symbiosis platform. A place where one company's production residues become another company's raw materials. A place where the circular economy stops being a concept and becomes daily practice.
"Every cubic metre of whey, every tonne of wood residue, every kilowatt-hour of surplus heat has new value when we find the right partner."
Why it matters
Latvia's manufacturing sector generates hundreds of thousands of tonnes of by-products every year that currently end up in landfills or are exported at low prices. At the same time, other companies import similar resources from abroad.

The Sinergia platform connects these two ends. The result — lower costs for producers, a smaller CO₂ footprint, and new revenue from what was previously considered waste.
How it works
The platform runs in three simple steps:
- Register — the company creates a profile and lists available resources or needs
- Find a partner — the algorithm suggests matching symbiosis opportunities within geographic proximity
- Agree — the Sinergia team helps close the contract, arrange logistics and launch cooperation
What to expect in the coming months

In the first phase we focus on food processing, woodworking and energy — sectors where symbiosis potential is highest. We invite companies to:
- register their resources on the platform today
- join a free onboarding session in August
- submit project ideas to the Sinergia support programme
The next big milestone — reaching 50 active symbioses by year's end, saving more than 12,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent in total.
